RAE Systems QRAE II Confined Space 4 Gas Monitor

The QRAE II is RAE Systems' latest and easiest to use 4-gas monitor. It is a full-featured multi-gas detector targeted mainly for confined space entry. You can choose between the option of a diffusion model which has no pump or a pumped version which can sample air from a space before entry. If you are looking for a rugged, compact and easy to use monitor then this is the confined space sniffer for you.

The QRAE II has been designed to provide continuous monitoring of up to 4 gasses. These gasses are Oxygen, Hydrogen Sulfide, Carbon Monoxide and Combustible gasses. There are 3 different models available with all 4 gasses. Each one is listed below with a description to explain the monitor and why this would be good for your application.



First we have the Diffusion/Alkaline version. This model is your basic run of the mill monitor. It has no pump and runs on alkaline batteries. A few pros for the Diffusion/Alkaline QRAE II are without the pump the battery life tends to last longer and the monitor is definitely quieter than the pump version. With the Alkaline version you do have to let the monitor run a good 2 hours to "burn" in the Oxygen Sensor. The O2 sensor is covered by a polymer coating which has to melt for the monitor to operate correctly. Once this is done you will not need to go through the process again until the batteries are replaced with fresh batteries and the process starts again.

Next we have the Diffusion/Rechargeable. This monitor is basically the same as above but with a rechargeable battery. Pros of this monitor would include the rechargeable battery. With the rechargeable battery you do not have let it run for 2 straight hours to "burn" in. You will however need to charge it for a full 24 hours as recommended by the manufacturer. This will fully charge the unit to insure that it works properly. Charging it fully also insures the Oxygen sensor works properly. When unit is not in use you will need to keep on the charger at all times to ensure the O2 sensor stays conditioned.

Last but not least we have the Pump/Rechargeable QRAE II. This is the monitor we recommend to anyone who is looking for a confined space monitor with all the bells and whistles. With the pump you are able to take samples out of the confined space remotely. All you have to do it hook up the hose attachment and drop it in. With the diffusion monitor you either have to drop the whole monitor down or a worker will have to wear the monitor while entering the space.

The QRAE II has only 2 buttons making this one of the industry's most user friendly monitors. It has a permanent rubber boot that is IP-65 rated for water and dust resistance. Along with this the QRAE II comes with the industry's standard ratings.
