Product Description
Update: Petzl is on an extended back order on the TWIN pulley. The TWIN pulley will be substituted with Yates Mountain Lite Double Blue pulley. The Mountain Lite is a sealed bearing prusik minding pulley. Features a 2.5 inch sheave (full, true 2 inch tread diameter), and certified to NFPA G 1983/2006 ed., weighing 15 oz.

If your team is entering confined space on a regular basis, give them the right tools for the job like this Confined Space Access Kit from Petzl. Designed for reliability and performance, this isn’t a basic grinding mechanism to pass inspection. The Petzl kit is recommended in the Petzl Confined Space Rescue Classes given at their factory in Utah. The Access Kit provides an incredible tool for lowering and retrieving personnel and supplies to or from a confined space.

The Petzl Access Kit supplies everything your team will need for smooth access and egress of your work site confined space. The ergonomic devices in this kit not only have incredible durability, but the descender, pulleys and carabiners operate with well-designed efficiency and are a pleasure to use.

Included in this kit:

Team members entering confined spaces have enough to think about without dealing with clunky, cumbersome pulley systems. Each piece of the Petzl Access Kit has been individually tested and their designs have been developed over 60 years of climbing and repelling experience. With two sets of double pulleys, the Access Kit only requires a secure anchor point over the entryway, and a suitable anchor for the I’D S Descender before it is time to let the kit get to work. The large, D-shaped carabiner has tremendous strength and its clever closing mechanism virtually eliminates the possibility it will come unexpectedly unclipped .

The I’D S Self-Braking Descender
provides smooth, controlled descent for personnel or supplies being lowered with the Petzl Access kit. With a well-thought-out design, the Descender allows the line controller to monitor the speed of descent. A clever anti-panic feature stops downward motion if unintended pressure is applied to the unit. A pivoting cam will release, stopping the fall in the event the line controller slips.

In the Petzl confined space access kit, the I’D S Descender is used by the line controller to pace the rate of descent or as a safety during assent. With the smooth-running Vector line, the outside attendant or line controller simply turns the handle on the Descender, and with an eye on the line, and lowers the cargo at an easily-controlled speed.

Petzl Twin Pulley

The Twin pulley system from Petzl is 97% efficient and when combined with a second Twin (twin Twins if you will) creates a 4:1 purchase that is smooth, reliable and easy to rig. The Twin features lightweight, yet rugged construction developed through years of technical climbing expertise. For multiple configurations, the Twin accepts up to three carabiners to attach other equipment or anchor points.

Petzl AM'D Carabiner
The AM’D Triact-Lock Carabiner is a D-shaped carabiner that is lightweight, yet incredibly strong; the D-shape provides the highest weight to strength ration of any carabiner. The AM’D Carabiner features a smart closure device that requires a twist and pull to open, yet snaps shut with an internal spring. An extra step for opening and an automatic closure combine to make this an intelligent choice when connecting a confined space access system that simply cannot come unconnected at the wrong time.

11mm Petzl Vector Rope
Petzl Vector Rope as with the other aspects of this kit, is the product of years of testing and experience. While possessing all of the required strength to perform access and egress work, the Vector Rope has other qualities that make it especially fit for this particular job. Vector is manufactured to be easier to coil and flake, and it resists kinks making it an ideal rope for running smoothly through the pulleys and other gear in this confined space access kit.

This simple, yet effective system can be used for raising or lowering one or two people. Systems like this work well when there is sufficient room and overhead anchor points to attach the upper Twin unit and carabiner. This confined space access kit works in site applications like silos, tanks, manhole entry, vent shafts, bilges, and hoppers. If access is limited by lack of overhead space to attach the upper pulley system, consider our Petzl Confined Space Rescue Kit.

Petzl Pro provides climbing and at-height work solutions. This offshoot of Petzl grew from their core business of climbing and mountaineering for which they have been justifiably famous for over 60 years. The techniques of mountain rescue and technical climbing have been channeled into Petzl Pro to provide systems of uncommon usability and comfort for professional, hazardous, and confined space work requirements.

The core strengths of Petzl are their technology and their user-friendly design. The Petzl products in this kit, while being made of the strongest and lightest materials available and able to work smoothly in difficult situations and under load, are also very comfortable to wear and work in. If you or your team are required to spend any amount of time using descending equipment for personnel or equipment or both, the Petzl products make that work more efficient and therefore easier to complete.

We at PK Safety know that without proper knowledge of the applications of these devices, we will not be able to assist our customers with the complicated choices you make when choosing safety equipment. That is why we sent our team to Utah to experience the Confined Space Rescue classes from Petzl for ourselves. If you have questions, we won’t leave you hanging. Contact customer service with any questions you have about this, or any of our products.

With Petzl and the experts at PK Safety, we know that no matter what challenges your confined space access provides, we can assist you in finding the right solution. If your specific application requires a smooth downward evacuation system, an upward evac, or a technical horizontal exit around equipment and other obstacles, we can help find the right system for your job.

Working in “permit only” confined spaces on a regular basis, or as part of a safety and rescue team requires skill and training. It also helps to have the right tools for the job. Confined space access kits, such as this, require complicated systems all working cooperatively. Operating systems and plans for rescue must be developed by suitably trained, on-site experts who have the ability to assess the specific challenges inherent in their particular confined space environments.
