The Ultra-Lok RSQ Self-Retracting Lifeline comes from the fall protection experts at DBI-SALA. This innovative SRL features an in-built rescue system (the RSQ system, they call it), when activated this allows for automated lowering of the wearer should a fall be arrested. This removes the need for delicate or complicated rescue operations and is great for small sites where this is possible.
As with any SRL you get a wealth of on-site benefits over a traditional lanyard: The retractable nature of the line means there is no excess laying around the site, reducing tripping and snagging, while the speed sensing brake acts to arrest a fall in a matter of inches, as opposed to the feet required with a lanyard. This means not only is there reduced fall clearance needed, but also in the event of a fall, forces will be greatly reduced, protecting the wearer from further harm.
When the RSQ automated rescue system is in place the UltraLok will arrest a fall as normal: the speed sensing brake will detect the fall and activate, keeping forces below the ANSI required 900 lbs. After this the special centrifugal brake activates, it acts to slowly and safely lower the wearer to the next level down. Thus negating the need for complicated, time-heavy rescue operations that might otherwise be needed.
Constructed from durable yet lightweight materials, the Ultra-Lok is made from a thermoplastic and zinc-plated steel housing, which protects the inner working, keeping them running smoothly.
Rated up to 310 lbs. the Ultra Lok features a 50 ft. cable of 4.7mm galvanized steel, more than durable enough for most work sites, although should you require something more hardcore, there is a stainless steel option for the tough work sites (such as coastal or marine sites). If this is still not enough, it is worth checking out the stronger and tougher Sealed Blok unit also from DBI-SALA; it has an IP68 rating for water resistance and can take a heavier load, too.
The proprietary equipment and logging system, i-Safe, is built right into the device. This allows you to keep track of your arsenal of equipment: simply check each device with a handheld scanner, this will read the RFID tag, retrieve serial number and any maintenance checks that have been logged, allowing you to easily manage accountability and equipment checks, thanks to DBI-SALA’s online portal. The system uses RFID tags which need no batteries and are salt-water, dust and grease proof, so they will keep on working throughout the Lok’s long life.
